A core focus of Salboy’s growth strategy is the Housing Association and affordable housing market, delivering forward-funded and forward-sold residential developments in partnership with registered providers.
The Role
Salboy is seeking a highly experienced, relationship-led development professional to originate, secure and forward-sell residential development opportunities, with a particular focus on the Housing Association market.
This is a senior, externally facing role where success will be driven by industry connections, credibility and the ability to structure and transact forward sales with Housing Associations and Registered Providers nationwide.
The role will sit at the heart of Salboy’s investment and partnership model, working closely with Salboy’s JV housebuilders to align site acquisition, funding, delivery and exit strategies.
Key Responsibilities
Housing Association & Partner Relationships
- Build, maintain and leverage senior-level relationships with Housing Associations, Registered Providers and affordable housing investment teams
- Originate and negotiate forward-sale and forward-funded transactions
- Act as Salboy’s primary point of contact for HA partners from deal origination through to completion
Site Origination & Acquisition
- Identify and secure residential development opportunities suitable for affordable and mixed-tenure delivery
- Understand and assess planning status, viability, tenure mix and HA requirements
- Work collaboratively with Salboy’s JV housebuilders to align sites with delivery and funding strategies
Transaction Structuring
- Structure deals that meet the commercial objectives of Salboy, its JV partners and Housing Associations
- Coordinate with internal and external advisors on valuation, funding, legal and commercial matters
- Support negotiations on pricing, specifications, grant assumptions and delivery programmes
Market Intelligence & Strategy
- Provide insight into Housing Association demand, pricing, funding structures and market trends
- Advise on portfolio strategy and pipeline development within the affordable housing sector
- Represent Salboy at industry events, conferences and networking forums
Person Specification
Experience
- 8+ years’ experience in residential development, housebuilding, affordable housing or land & partnerships roles
- Strong track record of transacting with Housing Associations or Registered Providers
- Deep understanding of the residential land buying and development process
- Experience of forward sales, forward funding or affordable housing delivery models
Key Attributes
- Exceptionally well connected within the Housing Association and residential development market
- Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills
- Relationship-driven, credible and able to operate autonomously at senior level
- Comfortable with UK-wide travel and an externally focused role
