an ambitious and talented Rating Surveyor for their Manchester office.

The Business Rates team provides expert advice to a diverse portfolio
of clients, including landlords, occupiers, investors, and developers.
In this role, you will focus on supporting the occupier team,
leveraging their existing market presence to further build success.
The ideal candidate will be a proactive individual with a strong
aptitude for learning, developing new business, and providing crucial
support to Directors on complex, high-profile cases.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and deliver bespoke Business Rates appeal services (Check, Challenge & Appeal) and temporary occupation advice to a portfolio of prestigious occupier clients.
• Assist in providing comprehensive Business Rates advice to developer and landlord clients throughout the entire development life-cycle, including deletion/RV appeals, completion notices, and mitigation strategies.
• Conduct thorough quantitative and qualitative analysis to understand client situations and develop effective strategies and solutions.
• Prepare and present cases at Valuation Tribunal, including the creation of all necessary procedural documentation such as challenge documents.
• Foster strong collaborative relationships across the wider network of the client company and build connections with key service lines.
• Support Directors in driving innovation in processes, products, and services to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, while staying up-to-date with relevant legislative and market developments.
• Actively engage in Business Development activities by identifying cross-selling opportunities through understanding client needs.
• Contribute to the development of proposals, pitches, and market-facing materials such as Thought Leadership pieces.
• Deliver informative workshops and seminars on Business Rates legislation to internal teams.

Person Specification/Requirements:

• Ideally MRICS qualified with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience (PQE) in Rating.
• Proven experience in providing Business Rates advice and negotiating appeals.
• Comprehensive knowledge of rating legislation and relevant case law.
• Sound general surveying and inspection skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Commercially aware with an entrepreneurial approach to business development.
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Demonstrates an understanding and appreciation for the importance of discretion.
• A collaborative team player who works effectively with colleagues and clients.
• Good IT skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Familiarity with Rating software such as Riverlake and Analyse would be advantageous.
