The Role:

Our client is seeking an ambitious Associate/Partner level Building Surveyor to join the expanding Newcastle team. This role offers a unique opportunity to develop a Project and Building Consultancy offering in Newcastle, serving Northumbria, Yorkshire, and Cumbria. While the role is based in Newcastle, it can also accommodate a Leeds-based surveyor with strong connections to the Newcastle market who is willing to spend a few days a week in the Newcastle office.

Key Responsibilities:

People:

  • Actively contribute to the team's effectiveness by sharing knowledge and advising others.
  • Develop the team, including hiring new staff to support growth.

Clients and Business Development:

  • Identify and progress new business opportunities both within and outside your discipline.
  • Become a key part of the Newcastle team to open new service lines.
  • Collaborate with teams in Manchester, London, and Oxford to develop existing client relationships and offer services across Northumbria, Yorkshire, and Cumbria.
  • Manage a broad range of assignments across multiple sectors, both commercial and residential.
  • Enhance the company’s reputation through successful project delivery.
  • Build networks across service lines.

Financial:

  • Deliver projects in accordance with corporate contract requirements.
  • Accurately forecast fees when required by the Partner.
  • Contribute to initiatives that increase profitability.

Systems and Processes:

  • Evaluate, adapt, and improve standards, techniques, and procedures.
  • Manage processes in accordance with internal and accredited requirements.
  • Contribute to wider projects as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Educated to degree level.
  • MRICS qualification with post-qualification experience.
  • Driving licence and own transport.
  • Experience in a multi-disciplinary firm.
  • Excellent business development skills and key client contacts.
  • Demonstrable record of exceptional delivery in building consultancy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex subjects clearly and concisely to clients.
  • Good presentation skills and experience of direct client interaction.
  • Ability to work as part of a client-focused team.
  • Excellent technical competence across the full range of building consultancy services.
